Viking's Detection and Control Solutions line has been expanding, especially this year, with some additions to the VSF303 line-up. In response to customer feedback, we have released a version v1.17 firmware update for the VSF303 with key improvements to enhance the detector's functionality, intelligence and make it more field technician-friendly.

New flame detectors are now equipped with the new firmware, but existing customers can also take advantage of the update as well. The firmware update is simple and only requires a USB to RS485 converter that can be purchased on Amazon or at any electronics retailer. The new firmware can easily be sent to the installation contractor or the end-user. We can also offer tech support in English or Spanish if needed.

Key Improvements in Firmware Version 1.17

  1. Configurable Relays via Alarm Configuration
    • Alarm and fault relays can now be configured as Normally Open (N/O) or Normally Closed (N/C) according to your specific requirements. The default settings remain unchanged but can be easily adjusted.
    • Benefits:
      • Flexibility: This enhancement allows Viking to offer a more versatile product, tailored to meet specific client needs.
      • Customization: Customers can seamlessly integrate the detector with their existing safety systems, minimizing potential conflicts.
  2. Enhanced Warning State Indicators
    • Warning states are now more easily identifiable with updated LED indicators:
      • Steady Amber LED: Signals a general detector fault or low voltage.
      • Flashing Amber LED: Indicates an optical verification warning.
    • Benefits:
      • Simplified Diagnostics: Enables quicker identification of issues, leading to faster resolutions.
      • Efficient Troubleshooting: Assists customers in distinguishing between different warnings, thereby expediting maintenance efforts.
  3. New VSF3008 ITEST Flame Simulator Auto-Calibration Feature
    • The VSF3008 ITEST Flame Simulator now automatically calibrates the optical verification test during the function test, removing the need for manual calibration via RS485. This enhancement is integrated within the detector firmware, with no modifications or renewals required for the simulator.
    • Benefits:
      • Ease of Maintenance: Simplifies the maintenance process, reducing the likelihood of human error.
      • Time and Cost Savings: Automatic calibration ensures the detectors maintain reliability with minimal effort, saving both time and costs.
  4. Additional Performance Improvements and Bug Fixes
    • Various enhancements and bug fixes have been implemented to further improve the VSF303 detector’s overall performance and reliability.

Whether you're installing new detectors or upgrading existing ones, this latest firmware update brings a range of improvements that make the VSF303 flame detector more intelligent, customizable and user-friendly.
